Would the floating windows be added in a new version of the input-method
protocol or do you think a new protocol would be used for that?

As Dorota mentioned, for CJK languages those are very
important. Unfortunately I didn't get very far trying to implement a
version of the input_popup [0][1] but I would like to know where their
protocol should be added in your opinion.
