As Olivier suggested, the xdg-foreign protocol would be a solution. I
don't know if it's easy to implement, in a general way *from* any app
(terminal etc) *to* Devhelp.

But at least I know that it's feasible, and that Wayland supports it.

Your solution might work as well, I don't know.
