I've committed some fixes so you can compile XCB even if you don't have
xcb_des.[ch]. Note that if you do have xcb_des and you want to use it,
you need to compile with -DHAS_AUTH_XA1. I thought about making it
auto-detect, but I'd rather just make it go away as quickly as possible.
How about using libgcrypt? From quick inspection, it seems to be what
the Gnome folks are using, so it has a good chance of already being on
systems where X is being used; and it looks like it has a reasonable
interface, though I don't have the expertise to be sure.
LGPL is compatible with the X license, I hope?
