It sounded like you had the Ethereal test almost set up right: just
remember to run `DISPLAY=localhost$DISPLAY kadu` or similar to force use
of TCP instead of Unix domain sockets.

Can you reproduce this bug using the xlsfonts command-line tool? For
example,
	xlsfonts -fn '-*-fixed-medium-r-*-*-16-*-ISO8859-1'
Try it with -l, -ll, and -lll as well.

I'm appalled that Qt is using the X Output Methods code in Xlib.

On the other hand I'm pleased at this confirmation of part of my
guesses: the application was responding to an EnterNotify event. That
isn't anywhere near being the root cause, but may help in finding the
right part of an Ethereal trace, for instance.
