Which overlay?  One of these? :

git://git.overlays.gentoo.org/proj/x11.git
git://people.freedesktop.org/~cloos/live-x11.git

In those cases the >= 1.2 is really to force current git master.

I just pushed a change to each to have libX11-9999 explicitly DEPEND
on libxcb-9999 rather than implicitly do so.

Both of the libxcb and libX11 ebuilds on those two overlays also
currently add the libxcb-xlib elimination patches which were posted
here recently, so you have to run revdep-rebuild after upgrading
to them.
