I realize that XCB is very low level - I was just hoping there would be
some higher level libraries for talking to input manager servers that
would work with XCB's connection. XOpenIM requires an XDisplay so can't
be used and I need to communicate with an input manager server.

I'll look into the approach of mixing calls...
