[Xcb] Are the util-common-m4 submodules relative on purpose?

Thanks. I am a bit confused. Don't we all use:

        [remote "origin"]
        	url = git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/xorg/xserver/

(unless we use ssh, of course).

Those with such a firewall also have to somehow use a non git url
for all of their xorg modules?

When I type this git url in the web browser, I get an error:

        [...]because the protocol (git) isn't associated with any program
        

I always wanted to ask someone about this...
