IIRC, XInput support was waiting for XKB to settle down. XKB took longer
than expected, with a failed GSoC or two, and I suspect XInput
accidentally fell off of everybody's TODO list with the delay.

In theory, it shouldn't be too hard to add XInput2 support now. In
practice, it needs a volunteer. If you're willing to do the hard work
(testing), I might be able to assist with the xml.
