Found out that even down to creating a window the values passed work and that my reparent positioning is just a hook for window manager interloping. So I can assume that xcb_configure_window() works as expected and that the other EWMH and ICCCM are guidance with no single define when a window manager intrudes. It has also shown me my code woefully lacks provisions for no window management, testing for window managers period. I believe the 'twm' provided is the best solution for testing of 'all' window management cases. Sorry for the bother and forgive the long windiness of withdrawal, and my ignorance Steve
