segfault from 11/13/2003 cvs ?

Hi all, I was really interested in the screenshots
that made /. a few days ago, so i followed the build
instructions and set it up, every build finished fine,
no problems, and followed the guide exactly.  I can
start Xvesa fine, and get the xterm, but as soon as I
start xcompmgr, I get a segfault in the xterm.  Has
this issue come up before? i'm using slackware 9.0.
