That is correct, except that my point was very gnome-volume-manager 
specific. The functionality I was talking about was at the very end of 
the food chain and actually has nothing to do with any of the lower layers.

For example, it is actually g-v-m that does volume mounting.

My apologies. When I saw that the HAL web page recommended this mailing 
list, I assumed it would be a good spot for g-v-m issues.
