Thats what we have the hierarchical system for. I really looking forward to 
seeing the updated spec. if it _ever_ appears on the freedesktop.org.

In KDE we use:
X-KDE-IsAlso=audio/mpeg for both audio/x-mp2 and audio/x-mp3.
