[RFC] having short and long MIME type descriptions in shared-mime-info

On the nautilus mailing list, a user brought up the question whether it
is possible to change the shared-mime-info MIME type descriptions to
shorter strings [1]. Back in February 2004 I also asked whether short or
long comments should be used [2], my attached patch for instance
contained:

- <_comment>Portable Graymap File Format</_comment>
+ <_comment>PGM image</_comment>

Since the short and the long form may be useful, depending on the
context the information is displayed in, my proposal is to provide both,
a long and a short description, i.e. "Portable GrayMap image" and "PGM
image".
Therefore, I'd suggest to also add a <long-comment/> tag to the MIME DTD
and provide the relevant information, especially since we have many MIME
types which are composed of multiple N-letter-acronyms (XSL-FO, DICOM
etc.).
On a sidenote, maybe a bugmaster/CVS master could handle [3]?
