I don't think this is a good reason.
An application either cares for desktop integration, then it is only logical 
it will depend on something that provides this (for example the desktop base 
libs it is already using, e.g gnomelibs or kdelibs), or it doesn't, but then 
it doesn't care which dependency it is not including.
