xdg-utils replacement (Was: Re: Proposal: Inharitance for Desktop Entry Spec)

Yeah, pretty much exactly -- but covering what's in xdg-utils currently 
(some overlap, some missing).  I'm interested, but I really don't have 
the time for it atm :-/ .
