For what it's worth, BeOS and Haiku use the MIME db for stuff like
this.
The prefered browser is the app registered (by path or mime signature)
as prefered app for the type text/html or application/x-vnd.Be.URL.http
and though we only have one (native) Terminal because we don't use X11
it can be done this way also for it if needed.
