SyncEvolution on freedesktop.org?

Hello folks!

I'm the main author of SyncEvolution, a tool for synchronizing PIM data.
I am currently looking for a new place to host the development of the
software (git repo, bug tracker) [1]. Mailing list and web site would
remain on http://syncevolution.org.

Do you think SyncEvolution would be a suitable project for
freedesktop.org?

One can argue that it is aligned with the freedesktop.org mission by
"implementing technologies that further X desktop interoperability and
free X desktops in general" with cloud services and mobile devices.
Admittedly it is not per se about technology implemented by an X desktop
and more about the middleware below it.

My goal always was to not tie it into one specific desktop environment.
Evolution/GNOME is supported well. KDE support is available, but needs
more work [2, 3]. Other PIM storages would also be possible if some
developer wanted to support that.

In fact, my main motivation for hosting SyncEvolution on freedesktop.org
is to make users and other developers aware that it is not just for
GNOME or MeeGo (the place where it is hosted at the moment).

If you agree that it is suitable, then I'll proceed with filing a
request for hosting in the bug tracker.

Best regards, Patrick Ohly
