I'm curious as to why this is such a bad idea - I'm used to browsers and
e-mail clients putting things in /tmp if I select 'Open' rather than
'Save'. For instance, I've just tested in current Firefox: when I tell it
to open a PDF in the default viewer, it downloads it to /tmp and opens
that. This seems like the sort of thing that /tmp is there for.
