Hi,

I hope I am on the right list. My question is not about the xdg menu standard,
but about how to use it in order to get automatic additional categories support.

I am the main fvwm-crystal developer, and I have always been very irritated
about the support of the additional free desktop categories. Il am a big fan of
audio and music, and these programs all end into the sound & audio category,
which is a mess, that even on the Debian menu system. Of course, this is not
better with distributions like gentoo which only provide what upstream provide.

It is why I updated fvwm-crystal application menu with script that only rely on
the content of the desktop files provided by the applications. But I still use
some other desktops from time to time.

I googled a lot. As example, the guy here:
http://www.remastersys.com/forums/index.php?topic=1686.0;wap2
use the Include tag in the submenus, which is not practical, because every
single software have to be added by hand, when the desktop files will
provide the wanted categories when needed. Is it a way to automate this
in a xdg-menu menu file.

As examples, the additional categories for Audio are HamRadio; Midi;
Mixer; Sequencer, Tuner; AudioVideoEditing; Player; Recorder

Is it possible to combine all that to get the an Audio menu with automatic
support for these additional categories, and how?

Dominique
