OK, strike my last comment.

X.org just hung on me after roughly 30mins of VMWare, with DGA disabled/not loaded.

>From my experiency it would seem that DGA, as well as "Acceleration", increase
the frequency/probability of the hang, but do not qualify as prerequisites.
