X.org starts (with the Composite extension enabled), then I run xcompmgr, the
screen does some weird thing for half of a second and it crashes:

Hardware is a 2xp3 via chipset. Graphic card is: 0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible
controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE] (rev 01) (prog-if 00
[VGA]) running 2.6.8-rc4-mm1
