The last patch works for me (Acer TravelMate 803, Mobility Radeon 9000) and 
enables dualhead again.

However, it still has some disadvantages compared with the old XFree driver: 
- I need   Option   "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,TMDS"   in my Xorg.conf 
- if external monitor is disconnected, the desktop still uses dualhead size  
  which means windows appear in the "off". The old driver detected this and  
  reduced desktop size to existing screens. 
It would be nice if you could fix this.
