If disabling rhgb and rebooting works around this problem, then it
might possibly be DRI/multi-X-server related. If this stops the
problem from occuring, boot into runlevel 3, then run startx on
display :0 with DRI enabled, and a second copy of startx on :1
to see if it hangs.
