Summary: multiple apps hang in same place with multi-head monitor
           Product: xorg
           Version: 6.7.0
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: major
          Priority: P2
         Component: Lib/Xlib
        AssignedTo: xorg-bugzilla-noise at freedesktop.org
        ReportedBy: wjhns115 at hardakers.net

I have a multi-head monitor setup (laptop and external monitor). When I run
some applications under this setup, the occasionally hang and I have to kill
them. Some of them hang in a reproducible way, others not so much. It seems
to be font-related, quite possibly due to the more complex fonts (Korean,
Chineese, Japaneese, ...). The stack trace for these applications looks
pretty similar all ending in:

#0 0x003ef402 in ?? ()
#1 0x004a3e2d in ___newselect_nocancel () from /lib/tls/libc.so.6
#2 0x00152352 in _XPollfdCacheDel () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
#3 0x00153271 in _XRead () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
#4 0x00153de3 in _XReply () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
#5 0x0014f254 in XSync () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6

The next time I start the application, it usually continues on (until it hits
another problem). In the case of acrobat I have to start and kill it twice
(once it hangs on the spash screen, and the second time just as the main
window opens) and then after that it works just fine. xemacs tends to crash
when reading mail where foreign fonts are encountered.

This happened with RH9 and I'm now running FC2. KDE base with versions
anywhere from 3.2-3.3.1 (I was hoping an upgrade would help and hence I've
waited for a while to submit this).

I do not think this causes problems when the laptop is not docked, IE when it
is a single screen. Thats the oddest thing about it to me.
