Summary: xorg X11 6.8.0 uses bitmap fonts instead of scalable
                    fonts
           Product: xorg
           Version: 6.8.0
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Font/XFS
        AssignedTo: xorg-bugzilla-noise at freedesktop.org
        ReportedBy: willie at froq.net

I wouldn't call this a bug if it weren't (re)introduced with 6.8.0. Using X11
6.7.99.902 and 6.7.99.904, KDE always used scalable fonts if available (for
Helvetica for example, I have the usual X pcf fonts _and_ Helvetica (Adobe)
Type1 installed). Since I updated to 6.8.0, KDE always uses the pcf font (like
6.7.0 did), and it seems to be impossible to make X prefer Type1 over bitmap
fonts...

BTW, when will we get rid off the pcf fonts?
