Mesa applications becomes almost unresponsive after a few seconds of running.

For example glxgears is expected to rotate the contents of the window when
pressing arrow keys and exiting when pressing escape. However the application
seems almost unresponsive to key presses (Holding down keys for a couple of
seconds or pressing keys repeatedly can make the application respond to them
occasionally). The affected applications are also reacting with a delay of a few
seconds when closing the containing window (that is the window is not
immediately closed when pressing the close window button of a window manager).

This bug is present using several different window managers and even when
launching the apps from xterm in a bare x-server launched with xinit.

This bug is present at my computer with the nv driver but not with the nvidia
proprietary driver. 

Note that mesa apps were working as expected before i upgraded from XFree4 to xorg.
