Summary: X freezes when changing of X session (or DISPLAY)
Product: xorg
Version: 6.8.2
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: Driver/Radeon
AssignedTo: xorg-bugzilla-noise at freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: lsom at free.fr
I am using 2 user accounts simultaneously : one to work and one to go on the
web, etc.
I am switching from one session to the other using the keys ctrl-alt-F7 /
ctrl-alt-F8.
On versions 6.8.1 and 6.8.2 X freezes when beginning to display the new session
: no more keyboard (numlock doesn't work), sometimes ctrl-alt-del enables to
reboot "cleanly". ctrl-alt-backspace to kill X does not work.
This is typically a bug on the driver : I had the problem with XFree with the
first versions of the driver.
I have a Radeon 9200SE
* Slackware 10.0 - Xorg 6.7 (Release Date: 18 December 2003 - X Protocol Version
11, Revision 0)
!! OK !!
* Slackware 10.1 - Xorg 6.8.1 : PROBLEM
* Slackware 10.1 - Xorg 6.8.2 (binary package) : PROBLEM
* Slackware 10.1 - Xorg 6.8.2 (compiled with the Slackbuild) : PROBLEM
Back to 6.7:
* Slackware 10.1 - Xorg 6.7 (binary package of Slack 10.0) : !! OK !!
There is a bug on the 2 last versions of Xorg but I had no better perfs (on
single display, with glxgears) than with the 6.7 version...
Thanks
