I agree this fix works around one bug, but I'm concerned that there are actually
two bugs.  One fixed by the tex_size change and one fixed by the pre-rendering
texture change that Matthias made.  I'm curious if both fixes are needed, or
just one.  I'd like to hear from anyone that had their problem fixed by
Matthias' patch whether or not my patch also fixes their problem on the 6.8.2
branch (since I disabled his fix in my first patch).
