[PATCH 00/20] ptraccel cleanups

For an unrelated problem, I had to look at the ptraccel code today and,
well, it's quite complicated and at times hard to understand.
These patches here attempt to make the code simpler to understand though
except the first one they don't actually change functionality. And even
01/20 doesn't change anything but just saves us some processing time so the
net effect of these patches on server behaviour is zero.
