These are the patches that I want in inputproto 2.1. Now, as you remember,
XI2.1 was supposed to have multi-touch support but that plan is shelved.
<queue sensationalist headlines here>
The changes for 2.1 instead will be very simple: new RawEvents behaviour to
make these events actually useful and the additions to support smooth
scrolling. Both of these are uncontroversial and the matching server patches
have been on the list for ages. So once the merge window opens, the 2.1
server patches will go in, this will go in and be tagged as 2.1.
Regarding multi-touch: it has been pushed for 2.2. We're still expecting to
get it into server 1.12. However, should the multi-touch work get delayed
again, at least we have the new features in and well in time for clients to
start using them. If MT is finished in time, we just jump from server 1.11
with XI 2.0 to server 1.12 with XI 2.2.
So really, all this is just a version number game to get some stuff out of
limbo into a release so I can stop having to rebase the patches.
Cheers,
Peter
