A question - what is it about preforking a backtrace handler that you think
will put people off using it?

Our backtrace handler, for example, is a small bash script, taking around
5MB of VM, and around 1M RES, 900kB SHR according to top. It's got a nice
clear name in ps output, and it's thus obvious what's going on.
