Touchscreen auto-configuration for multi-display systems

Hi all,

I recently setup a touchscreen display on a dual-head system where the
touchscreen display was on the left. Of course this doesn't work out of the
box. I had to spend time learning about `xinput --map-to-output`. I ended
up putting together the following script to automate manual process that is
currently required:

Does the xorg have similar plans to make this configuration work
automatically out of the box? Would a script like this be a viable
solution? There is of course the issue of maintaining a touchscreen
database to map displayID => touchscreenDevice, but worthwhile, I think, to
get a solution that Just Works (at least more often than the way things are
now)
