So, mixed news: 

After some longer day-to-day use today, what I observe is, that it got quite a
bit better, however it still happens regularly, that the screen is not waking
up.

So overall the wakeup-reliability became better, but it's not yet 100%.

Let me know, if there are things that I can assist with for debugging, testing,
etc.
