HDMI: Image on TV too dark

Oh, I messed something up. Xgamma is actually capable of improving the
situation. Now I am using a gamma value of 1.75 and it looks pretty
normal again. Since I can configure gamma in xorg.conf I am not
unhappy with this solution.

I am still wondering why this is needed anyway? My Bluray player
(which is connected to the TV through the same AV receiver) shows a
normal picture with very natural colors. The AV receiver also does not
offer any image/color modifications for HDMI connections.
