In xorg.conf, I added a modeline and a preferred mode to the monitor section
(inspired by edid info):

  # 1368x768 @ 70.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 56.00 kHz; pclk: 101.70 MHz
  Modeline "1368x768_70.00"  101.70  1368 1448 1592 1816  768 769 772 800 
-HSync +Vsync

And the following options in the device section:
Option     "PanelSize"                  "1368x768"
Option     "IgnoreLidStatus"            "True"
Option "Enable" "True" # this one is from
