[Xorg] Get rid of checkerboard

Why does the average Joe User need to see the checkboard. Its more like 
a test pattern for geeks or troubleshooters only.  Notice you don't see 
the checkboard in windows or mac systems.  Those systems run perfectly 
fine.  Is that correct or am I missing something.
