I suspect that when he uses CRT only, the panel blooms (lack of signal)
and isn't shut down properly.... The actual LVDS interface shutdown
mecanism is a bit weird, on some chips, it requires specific timings.

It usually doesn't on PPC.... If the video cell of the M3 is the same as
the one on Radeon M6/7/9, then there is chance we get that working one
day, the open-beos driver does have code for it that we can re-use (I
asked the author).
