The more can be pushed to user space the easier that gets. BTW I've been
looking at the PCI issue and there seems to be another lurking horror
which could cause corruption on big AMD64 boxes and in some other cases.
The BIOS emulation stuff (unless I've missed something
here which is possible as its a first scan) doesn't seem to revector
BIOS PCI conf1 access attempts via the kernel pci interface.
