What we have going is a snapshot of tinderbox3 Cliff et. al. got
me back in April.  We installed the tinderbox server on fd.o;
it was left pretty much alone.  The server should just work when I
turn some of the existing clients back on (I turned several off
when I went off on vacation). 

I (with John Dennis) hacked the client until we could build the CVS
based checkout/build of the X bits as the client only supported BK
properly at the time.  As I was the one to finish up,
and am not a perl hacker, it is buggy (leaves you in the wrong directory
afterwards, so you end up recursively digging a deeper hole, filling
the tinderclient's machine with logs slowly). 

At this point, we have (at least) 2 trees worth building.  The
conventional CVS based tree built with Imake, and a modular tree
using autotools and jhbuild.  jhbuild has some sort of tinderbox
feature, but I've not explored it.

As I'm not a perl hacker, I'm now lothe to spend more time on the
tinderbox scripts, as it isn't an efficient use of my time.  There
are a number of people who might be able to help at our end.

As to platform coverage, the more the merrier.

We also have pretty wide test coverage possible for the older parts
of X in the test suite (which doesn't cover things like render, but
covers the older core parts of X pretty well).


Even just build testing on lots of platforms has shown itself to be very
useful.
