I agree it would be nice if everyone would just use 2.1.8, but I don't 
think we should insist on that.  Again, the changes necessary to use 2.1.7 
or earlier appear simple, so we should just do it.

It seems far friendlier to accept what software people have than to 
force our own agenda on them.
