Not sure it belongs in DRI but clearly it belongs somewhere. I'm looking
forward to seeing all this at the kernel/desktop summit

As does ACPI resume. It certainly seems to make sense to do the BIOS
boot of all present VGA cards (or some kind of 'safe list' of ids)
at boot up.
