open graphics assistance

Hi all,

I've been half-heartedly following the open graphics initiative. This
is an effort that sprung up on lkml regarding making a custom graphics
chipset with a 100% completely absolutely in all ways Open architecture,
no proprietary drivers or firmware, etc.

Unfortunately, I haven't noticed any X.org or Cairo developers in on the
discussion. They are discussing the "absolute necessary features" of
the card to make it useful, and I'm thinking that those features are
whatever the new crop of common X applications are going to be using
over the upcoming years - namely, whatever parts of OpenGL, and whatever
extensions for OpenGL, are necessary for proper acceleration of cairo
based apps and general X stuff using Composite, Render, and so on.

Perhaps someone far more knowledgeable about this stuff than I can at
least provide these guys some ideas so *if* (and that's a big if) this
card comes to fruition, it is well suited for the everday tasks our
software will demand of it.
