Trying to reduce X.org

Which is the function of these directories: '/usr/share/fonts/util' and 
'usr/share/fonts/encodings' ?

I am only going to use languages of type ISO8859-1 and ISO8859-15.

So it could leave only the maps corresponding to these types of languages in 
'util' (map-ISO8859-1 and map-ISO8859-15)?

And it would be sufficient with the files 'iso8859*.enc.gz' in the directory 
'encodings' ?
