libXau shared?

I strongly believe that all published libraries should be built both shared
(with PIC) and non-shared (without PIC).  I'd also like to encourage them 
to be buildable for profiling (non-shared, without PIC).

In the autotool'ed xlibs project, we use the standard libtool rules for 
library construction which does at least the first two kinds.  I don't 
know how to make it built profilable libraries.
