Hello, I have written a driver that uses the /dev/input/eventXX Linux interface to obtain input events from a USB mouse. My motivation was to be able to use all 10 buttons + wheel that my shiny new mouse offers :-) I wrote the driver for xfree86 4.4.0. If you are interested just let me know where and how to send it.
