What font is a window using?

Hi All,

Is there any way I can tell exactly what font a given window
is using? For example, the fonts used in the menu versus the
fonts used in the actual app etc? Even more useful would be
some way to tell what the app *asked* for, versus what it
ended up with. For example, if its resource file only
specifies "-adobe-helvetica-*-*-*-*" etc, which font was actual
chosen? Any help at all would be very much appreciated.
