X doesn't fill the whole screen

Indeed, I don't have read-edid installed. I'll install it, put away my current  
xorg.conf and run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, to see what it comes up with 
it.

Why isn't xserver-xorg configured to depend on read-edid ?
