People care equally about nVidia/ATI/Intel, because deployments of all
three are staggering. You can buy all of them in Dells, IIRC.
People want hotplug input, although not too badly, since Linux has
/dev/input/mice.
People want composite to work, work quickly, and interact well with
GLX (including direct rendering).
People want easier-to-configure multi-head support.
People want XAA to die in the arse, by extension of wanting a faster
X server.
