i finally got the patches from this url

and tested the above (with current cvs). for the first time it was possible to
see something on a monitor connected by dvi. but the display was very flickery
and noisy (like an old tv set) with also there were like horizontal waves on the
laptop monitor the colours were somehow inverted (on the external monitor they
are ok.)

i'll attach my config and send a log to everybody who's interested, as this is a >50k file.
