tracking down a serious memory leak

Hi all,

I got bitten (and now suffer a lot) from a serious memory leak in
xfree86, which still is in xorg :(

It happens with ati-radeon in a dual head setup, for details see:

Does anyone have an idea how one could track this down ? I'd really like
to see this fixed, so it would be great if someone has an idea what I
could do to find the leak (or guide me step by step what I could look
for) pleas say so !
